Sergio Garcia wins LIV Golf Hong Kong, seeks Ryder Cup spot
Sergio Garcia secured his second LIV Golf victory at the Hong Kong Golf Club with a final round of 7-under par 63, finishing three strokes ahead of Dean Burmester. The 45-year-old hopes this win will bolster his chances of being selected by European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald for the 2025 event, having previously missed the 2023 edition due to joining the LIV series. Garcia, a record point scorer in Ryder Cup history, acknowledged he needs to continue performing well to earn one of Donald's six wildcard picks, particularly as he currently sits outside the top 400 in world rankings. Following his victory, he expressed his desire to help the European team, emphasizing his ongoing communication with Donald. Garcia has made peace with the DP World Tour, paying fines to regain eligibility for Ryder Cup selection, and is looking forward to upcoming tournaments including the Masters. He celebrated his win alongside his team, the Fireballs, who also claimed the LIV team title.
