In response to Hurricane Debby, shelters across Florida and Massachusetts are stepping up to rescue and rehome displaced dogs. The Humane Society of Broward County took in eight dogs from the flooded Taylor County Animal Shelter, with adoptions on the rise in Broward enabling them to assist. Meanwhile, the MSPCA in Massachusetts welcomed 24 dogs from the Charleston Animal Society to free up space for those affected by the storm. Both organizations are focused on ensuring the health and well-being of the animals, with the MSPCA waiving adoption fees for dogs over one year old to encourage adoptions. The MSPCA estimates the care for these newly arrived dogs will cost around $5,000, prompting a fundraising effort to support their efforts. These initiatives highlight the collaborative effort among shelters to provide safe havens for animals impacted by natural disasters.
