Pimiskâw Scholarship Competition Launched at UQAT

The Fondation de l'UQAT has launched the Pimiskâw scholarship competition to support Indigenous students at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue, offering nearly $75,000 in scholarships for its inaugural edition. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Indigenous communities, aims to promote access to higher education and reduce social inequalities. In a related educational context, New South Wales is celebrating a record 2,265 Aboriginal Year 12 students in 2024, highlighting ongoing efforts to support Indigenous students in completing their education. Meanwhile, graduate students from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa participated in a transformative institute on global indigeneities, where they gained professional tools and personal support, strengthening their connections to Indigenous communities. The importance of community and identity was emphasized by participants who shared their experiences of resilience and cultural heritage. Collectively, these initiatives reflect a growing commitment to advancing Indigenous education and cultural recognition across various regions.
