Mistress Charged Accessory Walnut Creek Double Murder Cover-Up
The alleged mistress of Walnut Creek murder suspect Howard Wang, 45-year-old Yan Wang of Oakland, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact, first-degree residential burglary and destroying evidence in connection with the Sept. 18 killings of Linlin Guo and her mother-in-law, Beimin Cheng, at a Kelobra Court home. Prosecutors say Yan Wang — who was in a romantic relationship with 43-year-old Howard Wang though not related to him — destroyed cellphones the day of the slayings, entered the home the next day to remove items and allegedly dumped bags of evidence in Oakland while attempting to help Howard avoid arrest. Authorities have charged Howard Wang with the double homicides; police say he later manufactured a story about an intruder, fired a handgun in the home to support that narrative, and faces life without parole if convicted. Court records and surveillance cited by prosecutors and police form the basis of the alleged cover-up, and Yan Wang was booked and scheduled for arraignment in Contra Costa County Superior Court. The Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office called the case a sobering reminder of domestic violence, and prosecutors say they will pursue the matter with urgency while also pursuing related charges against Howard Wang for criminal threats and witness tampering tied to prior alleged incidents.
