Richbrau Brewing Battles City Over Meals Tax

Richmond, Virginia's Chief Administrative Officer Lincoln Saunders has announced that the city will offer businesses tax credits for incorrectly charged meals taxes, on a case-by-case basis. Saunders acknowledged that the city could have communicated better with businesses over changes to the tax, which has seen restaurants hit with huge bills. Saunders said the city was "working to try to make things right", and that restaurants would be offered credits "to the extent of the law". Restaurant owners have called for the city to take responsibility for the mismanagement, and introduce greater transparency and better communication. Saunders also revealed that a new online system for tax payments would be launched by the end of the year.
