Huawei Cloud Plans Expansion in South Africa

Huawei Cloud has experienced significant growth in South Africa, expanding its business more than 16 times since its entry in 2019, and now ranks among the top three cloud providers in the local market. At the inaugural Huawei Cloud Summit in Johannesburg, executives emphasized their commitment to advancing the country's digital transformation in line with the National Digital and Cloud Policy. The cloud market in South Africa is projected to grow at a compound annual rate of 26% through 2028, driven by increasing demand for cloud services and artificial intelligence adoption. Jacqueline Shi, President of Huawei Cloud Global Marketing and Sales Service, highlighted the company’s goal to build a sustainable local ecosystem and empower South African enterprises. Government officials underscored the importance of public cloud infrastructure for job creation and essential services. Huawei currently operates three data centre zones in Johannesburg and aims to enhance its solutions to capture more market share.
