Texans Sign Cornerback Ronald Darby to $2.5 Million Deal

The Houston Texans have signed veteran cornerback Ronald Darby to a one-year, $2.5 million deal. Darby, 31, previously played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he recorded 46 tackles and nine pass deflections in the 2024 season. This move marks his third team in three years, following stints with the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos. Over his 10-year career, Darby has accumulated 447 total tackles, eight interceptions, and has started 107 of 118 games. The Texans made room for Darby by releasing cornerback Anthony Averett and waiving safety Brandon Hill and wide receiver Kearis Jackson. Darby's extensive experience is expected to bolster the Texans' secondary as they move forward into the season.
