D'Angelo Confirmed to Be Working on New Album

D’Angelo is reportedly hard at work on his long-awaited follow-up album to 2014's Black Messiah, with longtime collaborator Raphael Saadiq sharing updates on the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast. Saadiq revealed that D’Angelo is in a 'good space' and working on six new tracks, including one from their past supergroup Linwood Rose, which features a funky sound that has aged well. He expressed excitement over the project, stating, 'You gotta play bass. I’ve got this track. It got your name all over it.' While D’Angelo has been relatively quiet since Black Messiah, he did release a new song earlier this year for the film The Book of Clarence. Fans eagerly anticipate this new album, which Saadiq describes as a record that all collaborators can be proud of. D’Angelo previously mentioned in 2014 that he wanted to share more music, indicating that he feels he's just getting started.
