Google Tests AI Story Summaries, Curated Notebooks With Media Partners

Google is enhancing user experience across multiple platforms with new AI-driven features. In Google Discover on Android and iOS, AI-generated summaries that compile information from multiple articles are being tested alongside a new bookmark icon to simplify saving content, though these features remain in early testing stages. For Pixel devices, Google is developing an updated version of the At a Glance widget called Gemini Space, which integrates AI to provide personalized cards with information such as sports updates, finance details, and calendar events, potentially launching later this year. Additionally, Google has partnered with leading publications like The Atlantic and The Economist to introduce featured notebooks in its AI notetaking app, NotebookLM, offering pre-filled, expert-curated content that users can interact with via AI chat and podcast-style audio summaries. This initiative, which has already seen over 140,000 publicly shared notebooks, aims to make learning more engaging and accessible by providing curated knowledge collections across diverse topics.
