James Melady, a 37-year-old former paramedic from Flagler County Fire Rescue, has been arrested for allegedly molesting an unconscious woman while on duty in 2021. The investigation initiated by the Daytona Beach Police Department revealed video footage showing Melady sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman in an ambulance as she was being transported to a hospital. The victim, who was unaware of the incident at the time, was approached by detectives after the video was discovered during an investigation of Melady for other offenses. Melady has been charged with sexual battery on a helpless person and video voyeurism, and he is currently being held without bond.
