Christina Applegate Discusses MS Journey

Christina Applegate revealed that she first experienced symptoms of multiple sclerosis (MS) while filming the pilot episode of 'Dead to Me' in 2019, although she was not officially diagnosed until 2021. During a recent episode of her podcast 'Messy', co-hosted with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Applegate recalled falling during a scene, which she now recognizes as an early sign of MS. Liz Feldman, the creator of 'Dead to Me', noted Applegate's balance issues during filming, attributing them initially to long working hours. Despite her diagnosis, Applegate completed filming the show's third season, with adjustments made to accommodate her condition. MS is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, causing symptoms like muscle weakness and vision changes. Applegate has since retired from acting, expressing gratitude for the support from the show's cast and crew.
