Diane Ladd Dies at 89, Laura Dern Confirms
Diane Ladd, the three-time Oscar‑nominated actress, died on Nov. 3, 2025, at age 89 at her home in Ojai, California, her daughter Laura Dern said, adding she was “with me beside her this morning.” No cause of death was immediately disclosed; Dern called Ladd her “amazing hero” and a profound gift. Ladd’s six‑decade career included standout roles in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Wild at Heart and Rambling Rose, as well as appearances in Chinatown and numerous television series, earning her three Academy Award nominations. She and Dern co‑authored the memoir Honey, Baby, Mine, which grew out of intimate conversations while Ladd battled idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Born in Mississippi, Ladd was briefly married to actor Bruce Dern (1960–1969) and is survived by her daughter Laura Dern and other family members.
