Saquon Barkley Sets NFL Single-Season Rushing Record, Surpassing Terrell Davis
Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles made NFL history during Super Bowl LIX by breaking Terrell Davis' long-standing record for most rushing yards in a season, which includes playoffs. Barkley surpassed Davis' record of 2,476 total scrimmage yards with a four-yard run on the game's first play, finishing the season with 2,764 scrimmage yards. He also set a new standard for rushing yards in a season with 2,478, eclipsing Davis' previous mark during the second quarter of the game. Celebrating his 28th birthday, Barkley led the league with 2,005 rushing yards in the regular season and was named the AP Offensive Player of the Year. Despite being 101 yards shy of Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards, Barkley opted to rest in the final regular-season game. His remarkable performance marks a significant turnaround after six seasons with the Giants, where he only appeared in two playoff games.
