Linda Cardellini has been confirmed to play Pamela Voorhees in Peacock and A24's prequel series 'Crystal Lake,' which explores events before the original 'Friday the 13th' film. Known for her roles in 'Dead to Me' and 'Scooby-Doo,' Cardellini's casting follows the exit of original showrunner Bryan Fuller due to creative differences. Brad Caleb Kane, known for 'Welcome to Derry,' has taken over as the new showrunner. The series, which circumvents legal issues by focusing on Pamela rather than her son Jason, is believed to feature a storyline about a mother who turns vengeful after losing her son, Jason. The production, ordered in 2022, marks A24's move into more commercially driven projects. This series will offer a fresh take on the franchise, aiming to tell a more detailed backstory of the horror icon, Pamela Voorhees.
