Seven Indicted in Gang-Related Richmond Hill Baby Shower Shootout

Seven men have been indicted in connection with a gang-related shooting that occurred during a baby shower in Richmond Hill, Queens, last May, resulting in the death of 24-year-old Jefari Dobie-Reinhardt and injuries to three others. The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. when two men opened fire on a group outside the Volume Seventeen venue, with gunfire then continuing inside as attendees sought shelter. A total of 35 bullet casings were recovered from the scene, leading Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz to describe it as 'a scene out of the Wild West.' The indictment includes charges of criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and tampering with evidence against several defendants. Notably, some suspects allegedly attempted to hide firearms in food trays during the chaos. The investigation remains ongoing, with one suspect still at large.
