Man Convicted of Murdering Stepdaughter Kaydence Mills

Tane Saul Desatge has been found guilty of torturing and murdering his three-year-old stepdaughter, Kaydence Mills, while her mother, Sinitta Tammy Dawita, was acquitted of all charges. The ruling was made by Justice Sean Cooper at the Toowoomba Supreme Court, where evidence revealed Kaydence had suffered escalating violence, including repeated beatings with a bamboo stick and being forced to eat her own feces. Desatge's defense claimed Kaydence's injuries were due to a fall, but the court found this unconvincing. Justice Cooper noted Desatge's animosity towards Kaydence stemming from his relationship with her biological father influenced his treatment of the child, describing him as having called her a 'dying little c***' in an intercepted phone call. After the murder, Desatge and Dawita attempted to conceal the crime by wrapping Kaydence's body in garbage bags and hiding it at Chinchilla Weir.
