Vacaville Inmate Allegedly Attacks Correctional Officer with Improvised Weapon

At the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, inmate Dannunzio Patron allegedly attacked a correctional officer with an improvised weapon during a cell extraction, causing lacerations to the officer's left forearm and injuries to two other staff members who reported knee pain. The injured officers were transported to an outside medical facility for treatment. Patron, who had been transferred to the facility from Fresno County in December 2024 and was serving an eight-year sentence for assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, now faces attempted homicide charges. Following the incident, Patron was moved to another institution for restricted housing. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is offering peer support and employee assistance services to the staff involved. This attack marks the second inmate assault in recent months at the facility and is under investigation by the Solano District Attorney’s Office.
