Man Arrested for Arson After Peacehaven Mosque Fire in East Sussex
A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a fire at the Peacehaven Community Mosque in East Sussex. The incident occurred on the evening of October 4, when two masked individuals were caught on camera spraying accelerant on the mosque's front door and igniting a fire, which also engulfed a nearby vehicle. Emergency services promptly extinguished the blaze, and fortunately, no injuries were reported among those inside the mosque. Significant damage was caused to both the mosque and the parked car. Police have launched an urgent investigation, appealing to the public for any information and increasing patrols around places of worship in Sussex to provide reassurance. Authorities emphasized their commitment to engaging with religious communities to address concerns arising from this reckless attack.
