Heat Advisory Continues Across Alabama With Scattered Storms, Cooler Weekend Expected

Across much of the United States, a pattern of hot and humid conditions persists through Thursday, with temperatures reaching the mid-90s and heat indices climbing over 100 in some areas. However, a cold front and associated weather systems are expected to bring relief late in the week and into the weekend, leading to cooler temperatures in the 70s and 80s, especially by Sunday. This transition will also bring increased chances of showers and thunderstorms, with some storms potentially strong, producing gusty winds and heavy rain. Coastal and southern regions may see up to half an inch of rain, while mountain areas are expected to remain drier. In some regions, like Sioux Falls and surrounding areas, scattered storms with a marginal risk of severe weather, including wind and hail, are forecasted, followed by a cooler and less humid weekend. Despite the brief cooldown, summertime heat is expected to return by midweek next week with temperatures climbing back into the 90s.
