Nearly 31,000 Syrians Return Home to Türkiye
Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad, nearly 31,000 Syrians have returned home from Turkey, with the number increasing by 5,000 in just three days. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that 30 percent of those returning were born in Turkey, highlighting the ongoing refugee crisis with Turkey hosting nearly three million Syrian refugees since 2011. To facilitate this return, Turkey plans to open a migration management office in Aleppo and has also reopened its consulate general there. Additionally, refugees will be allowed to leave Turkey and re-enter up to three times by mid-2025. Amidst these developments, Syrians held a day of remembrance for the victims of the Assad regime while Turkey’s energy minister announced plans to assist in rebuilding Syria's power infrastructure. Moreover, humanitarian aid is arriving from the EU and Ukraine to support Syria's healthcare system, further emphasizing the international effort to aid the country post-conflict.
