Keelon Russell Honored as 2024-25 Texas Player of Year

Evan Spencer of Cumberland High School has been named the 2024-25 Gatorade Rhode Island Football Player of the Year, an honor recognizing his excellence on and off the field. Spencer, a senior quarterback and linebacker, contributed significantly to his team's performance, passing for 1,117 yards, rushing for 1,126 yards, and scoring 22 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Helena Capital's Merek Mihelish was awarded the Gatorade Montana Football Player of the Year, leading his team to a state championship with 3,712 total yards and 42 touchdowns. In Texas, Keelon Russell, a five-star quarterback committed to Alabama, was named the 2024-25 Gatorade Texas Football Player of the Year, having thrown for 3,652 yards and 52 touchdowns. Russell is also a finalist for the Gatorade National Player of the Year, competing against other top talents like Alvin Henderson and Jackson Cantwell. This recognition highlights the achievements of exceptional high school athletes across various states, showcasing their skills and community involvement.
