Maxim Naumov Honors Parents, Victims in Tragic D.C. Plane Crash Tribute

Maxim Naumov, a 23-year-old figure skater and son of former world champions Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, performed an emotional tribute to his parents at the Legacy on Ice event on March 2, honoring them and other victims of the tragic plane crash that claimed their lives on January 29. During his performance to "Ave Maria," Maxim broke down in tears, reflecting the profound impact of the tragedy on the figure skating community, which lost 28 members in the crash. The event, attended by notable skaters including Johnny Weir and Amber Glenn, aimed to raise funds for the families of the victims and first responders. Weir highlighted the close-knit nature of the skating community, emphasizing that they are all like family, while other participants expressed their support for one another amidst the shared grief. The event not only served as a memorial but also as a reminder of the resilience and unity within the sport. Proceeds from the event will benefit the victims' families through the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation's Legacy on Ice program.
