Mother and Boyfriend Charged in Infant's Death

In Lakewood, Colorado, two suspects have been arrested following the death of a 2-month-old boy, Ezra Johnson, due to methamphetamine toxicity. On July 26, police responded to a report of an unresponsive infant and found Ezra, who was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office confirmed the cause of death as methamphetamine toxicity, leading to charges of first-degree murder against the infant's mother, Lisa Marie Johnson, 31, and her boyfriend, Alexander Avila, 33. Avila is also facing an additional felony charge for tampering with evidence. Both suspects are being held in the Jefferson County Jail under a $500,000 cash-only bail, with their next court appearances scheduled for December 18. The case has raised concerns regarding the impact of methamphetamine exposure on infants, which can lead to severe health risks and fatalities.
