The upcoming Friday the 13th prequel series, titled Crystal Lake, has appointed Brad Caleb Kane as its new showrunner, creator, and executive producer, following the departure of Bryan Fuller. Kane, known for his work on It: Welcome to Derry and other notable series, expressed his long-standing admiration for the franchise, stating that it significantly shaped his childhood. The series was initially ordered by Peacock in 2022 but faced setbacks earlier this year due to production challenges. While specific plot details remain under wraps, the show is expected to explore events prior to the original 1980 film. Victor Miller, the original screenwriter, continues to be involved as an executive producer, alongside other key partners from A24. Kane's hiring has reignited optimism among fans for the project, which marks A24's first significant venture into franchise-based content.
