Paul Allen, Britain’s Largest Robbery Mastermind, Shot in Murder Plot

Paul Allen, a former cagefighter and convicted mastermind behind Britain’s largest cash robbery, was shot in his kitchen on July 11, 2019, leaving him paralyzed for life. Prosecutor Michael Shaw detailed that the shooting was a planned assassination attempt, with six shots fired from a Glock handgun, two of which struck Allen, with one hitting his throat and damaging his spine. Three defendants, Louis Ahearne, Stewart Ahearne, and Daniel Kelly, are on trial for conspiracy to murder; evidence presented includes DNA links to the crime scene and prior surveillance of Allen. The prosecutor stated that the attackers' intention was clear: they aimed to kill Allen, and they nearly succeeded in doing so. Allen had previously been involved in a £54 million robbery at the Securitas depot in 2006, for which he served time in prison.
