Sterling, Richarlison Highlight Football Black List 2024

Raheem Sterling and Richarlison have been recognized as two of the most influential Black figures in British football on the Football Black List, which highlights significant contributions across the sport. Sterling is noted for his activism against racism and representation issues in football, while Richarlison has openly discussed mental health challenges, encouraging others to seek help. They are joined on the list by Aston Villa's Tyrone Mings, Chelsea’s Lauren James, and QPR’s Kasha Petit, showcasing a strong presence of both male and female athletes. The list also includes coaches like Nuno Espirito Santo of Nottingham Forest and Ashley Cole, emphasizing the importance of Black professionals in leadership roles. Established in 2008, the Football Black List aims to address the underrepresentation of Black individuals in various areas of football beyond playing. Co-founder Leon Mann highlighted the ongoing need to recognize and support Black talent in leadership positions across the game.
