Two Dead in Southern Greek Wildfire
A major wildfire in the Peloponnese peninsula in southern Greece has claimed the lives of two local volunteers and injured a firefighter. The fire, exacerbated by strong winds and dry conditions, prompted evacuations from several villages near the towns of Xylokastro and Akrata. Authorities have mobilized around 350 firefighters and multiple aircraft to control the blaze, which began on Sunday. The wildfire is part of a series of devastating fires in Greece this summer, attributed to high temperatures and strong winds. The Greek Citizen's Protection Ministry has launched an investigation into the incident.
