Senators Plan Preseason Games in Quebec City

The Ottawa Senators, owned by Michael Andlauer, plan to expand their presence in Canada by hosting two preseason games in Quebec City in September 2025, with the possibility of future regular-season games there. The games against the New Jersey Devils and Montreal Canadiens will be held at the Videotron Centre, which has a rich hockey history but hasn't hosted an NHL team since the Nordiques moved to Colorado in 1995. Andlauer emphasized this is not an attempt to relocate the team from Ottawa but a strategy to grow the brand within the Quebec province. Meanwhile, Andlauer is negotiating a land purchase at LeBreton Flats, aiming to strengthen the team's position in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Despite the Quebec government's previous funding of NHL events, no public money will be used for the Senators' visit. This initiative aligns with the NHL's efforts to globalize the game and engage more Canadian fans.
