OpenAI Plans AI Hiring Platform to Challenge LinkedIn

OpenAI is launching an AI-powered hiring platform called OpenAI Jobs Platform that aims to match businesses with AI-literate talent, including entry-level workers and advanced prompt engineers, directly competing with Microsoft's LinkedIn. The platform will serve a wide range of users, from large corporations to small businesses, nonprofits, and local governments, helping them modernize hiring pipelines using generative AI. Alongside this, OpenAI is expanding its OpenAI Academy to offer a structured certification program, OpenAI Certifications, integrated into ChatGPT's Study mode, to assess AI literacy and advanced skills, with an ambitious goal to certify 10 million American workers by 2030. Walmart and other major partners such as BCG, John Deere, Accenture, and Indeed are involved in this initiative, which includes state pilot programs in Delaware and Texas. This new venture sets OpenAI on a collision course with Microsoft, its backer, as Microsoft continues to embed AI into LinkedIn's recruitment services. The OpenAI Jobs Platform is expected to launch by mid-2026, marking a significant expansion into workforce development and talent acquisition for OpenAI.
