Denver Man Arrested in Larimer County Scam

William 'Billy' Harris, a 67-year-old Denver man, was arrested on June 30 in Larimer County, Colorado, accused of defrauding a resident out of roughly $153,500 over six months. Harris allegedly convinced the victim, introduced through a family friend, that he had inherited millions but needed help paying taxes to access the funds, prompting the victim to deliver cash in both Larimer County and Denver. The victim became suspicious in June, researched Harris online, and contacted the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, which led to Harris's arrest on felony theft charges. Investigators believe there may be additional victims in Larimer County and nearby communities and continue to urge anyone with information or who may have been targeted to contact law enforcement or Crime Stoppers. Harris remains in custody with a $75,000 cash bond. The investigation is ongoing.
