A Louisiana State Police trooper sustained minor injuries after being struck by a fallen tree while clearing debris on Interstate 10 during Hurricane Francine. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Wednesday near Sorrento, west of Louisiana Highway 22. The trooper was working with others from Troop A to remove downed trees from the roadway when another tree fell and hit him. He was transported to a local hospital by a fellow trooper and remains under observation. Authorities urge residents to shelter in place to avoid similar hazards during the storm.
