Boise Expands Downtown Parking Zones, Uniforms Rates, Extends Enforcement
The City of Boise is expanding its downtown metered parking zones and standardizing parking rates to address increased demand for short-term parking. Zone 1 will grow by about one block in all directions, and Zone 2 will expand south, west, and east, while Zone 3 will be limited mostly north of the Idaho Statehouse. Parking rates will become uniform Monday through Saturday, eliminating the previous lower Saturday rates and free parking in some zones. Enforcement hours will also be standardized, with parking enforcement running from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The city expects these changes to improve traffic flow by increasing parking turnover and anticipates generating between $200,000 and $250,000 in additional annual revenue. Implementation is scheduled for late May, with updates to meters and systems to ensure a smooth transition.
