Willie Mays Personal Memorabilia Auctioned San Francisco Benefits Say Hey Foundation
Memorabilia from the personal collection of Hall of Famer Willie Mays is on display in San Francisco near Oracle Park and will be auctioned off this weekend, with all proceeds benefiting the Say Hey! Foundation, which Mays founded in 2000 to support underprivileged youth through education, training, and health services. The collection includes iconic items such as Mays' 1954 New York Giants World Series ring, his 1954 and 1965 National League MVP awards, multiple Gold Glove awards, his Hall of Fame induction ring, and his Presidential Medal of Freedom. Fans can view the memorabilia daily leading up to the auction at the King Street Warehouse event space, with online pre-bidding available until the night before the live auction. Highlights of the auction also include a photo-matched 1962 San Francisco Giants uniform worn by Mays in regular-season games and the All-Star Game, as well as his custom 1977 Stutz Blackhawk car. Willie Mays, who passed away in June 2024 at age 93, is widely regarded as one of baseball's greatest players, known for feats such as "The Catch" during the 1954 World Series. The auction aims to honor Mays' legacy both on and off the field, fulfilling his wish that the event be the best ever to support children through his foundation.
