Chad Michael Murray Recalls Near-Fatal Teen Illness

Chad Michael Murray, known for 'One Tree Hill' and 'Freaky Friday,' recently described a near-fatal health crisis at age 15 when a sudden twisting of his intestines caused severe internal bleeding and loss of half his blood. During his two-and-a-half-month hospital stay, Murray was in and out of consciousness, underwent multiple surgeries, and at one point overheard his family discussing last rites as his condition worsened. A life-saving blood transfusion was administered by his nurse Sandy. The experience left him physically frail, with his weight dropping dramatically, but it also deepened his faith and strengthened his relationship with his father, a single parent raising five children who visited daily. His nurse Alana later encouraged him to pursue modeling and acting, launching his Hollywood career. Murray credits the ordeal with reshaping his outlook and inspiring his ambitions.
