Lin Yu-ting Withdraws from UK Boxing Event

Taiwan's Olympic boxing gold medallist Lin Yu-ting has withdrawn from the World Boxing Cup Finals in Sheffield, UK, after questions arose regarding her gender eligibility. The event, organized by the newly established World Boxing, was meant to be Lin's first competition since winning gold at the Paris Olympics. Despite her compliance with all eligibility criteria and previous participation in women's events, concerns from World Boxing prompted her withdrawal to avoid further harm. Taiwanese sports officials stated that World Boxing lacks the clear regulatory policies of the IOC, which are essential for athlete protection. Lin had offered to undergo a local medical examination in Britain, but this was not accepted by World Boxing. This situation follows a contentious backdrop where Lin and Algerian boxer Imane Khelif were previously expelled from the IBA World Championships over gender tests but later competed successfully at the Olympics.
