Liberty Go 5-0 After Double Win Over Valkyries
The New York Liberty improved to 5-0 after defeating the Golden State Valkyries in back-to-back games this week, including a dominant 95-67 win followed by a narrow 82-77 victory. The Liberty played without injured centers Jonquel Jones and Nyara Sabally but were led by Breanna Stewart’s 27 points and Sabrina Ionescu’s 24, including six three-pointers, in the second matchup. Natasha Cloud contributed crucial plays in the final seconds and was recently named Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Kayla Thornton was honored with a championship ring ceremony during the series. The Liberty’s depth, ball movement, and high-powered offense have fueled their strong start, while the Valkyries, in their inaugural season, continue to search for consistency. Golden State showed resilience but struggled to match New York’s scoring and defensive intensity.
