72-Year-Old Arrested for Brush Fires in Attleboro
Gerard Genest, a 72-year-old resident of Attleboro, Massachusetts, has been arrested for allegedly setting a series of intentional brush fires around the city. The fires, which occurred on November 12, took place at several locations, including the Attleboro Elks Lodge, Manchester Reservoir, Attleboro Wastewater Department, and Attleboro Animal Shelter. Police used video surveillance to identify and apprehend Genest during a traffic stop on November 16. He is also under investigation for additional fires, including one at the LaSalette Shrine. Genest is scheduled to be arraigned in Attleboro District Court. The investigation remains ongoing as dry conditions have exacerbated fire risks across the Northeast.
