Fox News Leads January Ratings, Marks 23rd Year as Top Cable Network

Fox News Channel achieved its highest-rated January in history, marking 23 consecutive years as the most-watched cable news network in America. The network averaged 2.8 million viewers in prime time, reflecting a 40% increase from the previous year, while its total day audience was nearly 2 million, up 53%. In contrast, both CNN and MSNBC struggled, with CNN averaging 522,000 and MSNBC 734,000 viewers during prime time, down 14% and 33% respectively. However, both CNN and MSNBC reported some recovery from post-election viewership dips, with CNN's total day viewership increasing by 39% compared to December. The competition among networks remains fierce, with Fox News dominating the 25-54 demographic, averaging 353,000 viewers compared to CNN's 118,000 and MSNBC's 63,000. Overall, Fox News continues to outperform its rivals significantly, commanding 71% of the cable news audience share.
