RSF Launches Projects Supporting Exiled Journalists

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has launched the 'Voices in Exile' project to support journalists who have fled their countries due to threats and persecution. This initiative, funded by the French government, aims to assist 72 exiled journalists with professional training, housing, and psychosocial support over three years. Concurrently, RSF has partnered with Society magazine to produce 'The Prison Papers,' highlighting the stories of 581 journalists currently imprisoned worldwide, including notable figures like José Rubén Zamora and Narges Mohammadi. The publication aims to raise awareness about press freedom and the harsh realities faced by journalists in repressive regimes. In Egypt, journalists continue to face severe repression, with arbitrary arrests and government control stifling dissent and free expression. Overall, these efforts underscore the urgent need to protect journalists and uphold the right to information globally.
