Premier Li Urges China, Indonesia to Expand Cooperation, Safeguard Free Trade
Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between China and Indonesia during his visit to Jakarta, highlighting the need to expand economic ties, enhance industrial integration, and safeguard free trade. Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, Li invoked the Bandung Spirit of solidarity and cooperation as crucial for navigating today's rising global challenges like unilateralism and protectionism. He called for peaceful dialogue to resolve differences and promote mutual prosperity, noting that bilateral trade and investments have grown significantly, with major projects such as the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway exemplifying their partnership. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto praised China as a key partner in regional stability, industry, and technology development, also recognizing China’s stance against imperialism and colonialism. Li further committed to advancing "true multilateralism" and highlighted China’s openness to foreign investment amid its economic growth and industrial upgrading strategies. The two leaders planned to discuss further strengthening their relationship, which is pivotal for regional economic and strategic ambitions, especially under China's Belt and Road Initiative.
