Kellie Harrington Secures Olympic Boxing Medal

Defending Olympic champion Kellie Harrington has secured at least a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Games after defeating Colombia's Angie Valdes Pana in the women's 60kg quarter-final with a unanimous 5-0 decision. This victory makes her the fourth Irish athlete to win Olympic medals at two different Games in the last 96 years. Harrington will face either Brazil's Beatriz Ferreira or the Netherlands' Chelsey Heijnen in the semi-finals. Her win adds to Team Ireland's medal tally, which includes swimmers Daniel Wiffen (gold) and Mona McSharry (bronze). Meanwhile, Jude Gallagher and Rachael Darragh were eliminated from their respective events, while Aoife O'Rourke and Irish sailors are advancing in other competitions.
