China Launches FPSO Vessel with Carbon Capture Tech

China has launched the world's first floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel equipped with carbon capture technology, marking a significant advancement in reducing emissions from offshore oil production. Developed by Cosco Ocean Shipping Heavy Industry, the FPSO can produce up to 120,000 barrels of oil per day while capturing carbon dioxide emissions generated during production and navigation. This innovation embodies China's commitment to reaching peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving net-zero by 2060. The vessel also utilizes exhaust gas heat to generate electricity, thus enhancing energy efficiency.
