Travis Scott, Live Nation Settle Astroworld Lawsuits
Travis Scott and Live Nation have settled nearly 100 personal injury lawsuits related to the 2021 Astroworld Festival tragedy, which resulted in the deaths of 10 concertgoers. The settlements were reached just days before a trial was set to begin on October 22, involving two bellwether plaintiffs, Angel Dominguez and Elizabeth Martinez, with their cases serving as precursors for future lawsuits. A third bellwether plaintiff, Henry Nguyen, had his trial rescheduled. While the settlements resolve claims from about 100 plaintiffs, hundreds more lawsuits remain pending, indicating ongoing legal challenges for Scott and Live Nation. The Astroworld disaster was marked by a crowd surge that caused compressive asphyxiation, and prior wrongful death lawsuits from the victims' families have been settled as well. The next phase of trials is expected to begin in February as legal representation prepares for additional bellwether cases.
