Ohio Paramedic Killed in Athens County Head-On Crash

Monica Leigh Perani, a 27-year-old paramedic from Corning, Ohio, died in a head-on collision on State Route 682 in Athens Township while driving home from her EMS shift. Her 2024 Nissan Sentra was struck by a 2016 Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by Paul Richard Biehl, 69, of Athens, who was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol was not suspected to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. The accident occurred near Wildwood Lane and involved multiple emergency agencies responding to the scene. Perani was pronounced dead at the scene by the Athens County Coroner's Office.
