Evan Dunfee Sets World 35km Race Walk Record in Slovakia

Evan Dunfee of Canada set a new world record in the men's 35-kilometre race walk, clocking a time of two hours, 21 minutes, and 40 seconds at the Dudince 50 competition in Slovakia. This remarkable performance improved the previous record by seven seconds, originally held by Japan's Masatora Kawano. Dunfee led the race from start to finish, lapping all competitors and maintaining consistent pace. This achievement follows Dunfee's success in securing a bronze medal in the 50km event at the 2020 Olympics and the 2019 World Championships. The 35km race walk was officially recognized as a championship distance in 2022, replacing the 50km event. Dunfee's latest record marks his second significant accomplishment in a short period, having set the North American record in the men's 20km earlier this year.
