57 Israeli Passengers Sue United Airlines Over Antisemitism Claims

A group of nearly 60 Israeli and Jewish passengers has filed a lawsuit against United Airlines, alleging antisemitic discrimination after a Tel Aviv-bound flight in April 2023 was turned back to Newark following a minor incident involving a passenger briefly sitting in a crew seat while waiting for the restroom. The plaintiffs claim the crew responded with undue force and collectively punished Jewish passengers, some of whom reported receiving discriminatory remarks and inadequate assistance upon return. The lawsuit seeks damages and mandatory anti-bias training for United staff. United Airlines has denied the allegations, stating the return was due to safety and security concerns posed by the passenger involved and asserting that the crew acted professionally throughout the incident.
