Pune Metro experienced unprecedented ridership during the Ganesh festival, culminating in a record-breaking footfall of 3,46,633 passengers on the last day, generating around Rs 55 lakh in revenue. The Metro extended its service hours until 2 am and operated 24 hours on the final day to accommodate the surge. Similar trends were observed in other cities; Kolkata malls saw peak weekday footfalls in six months due to eased roadblocks ahead of Durga Puja, while Hyderabad Metro also reported a significant increase in passengers during the Ganesh festival. The push for digital ticketing and extended train services has been crucial in managing the increased commuter traffic effectively.
