Chinese Rookie Miranda Wang Wins FM Championship by One Stroke

Miranda Wang, a Chinese rookie on the LPGA Tour, secured her first career victory at the FM Championship held at TPC Boston, finishing at 20-under-par and winning by one stroke over world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul. Despite losing the lead temporarily in the final round, Wang delivered clutch shots over the last three holes, including a critical birdie on the 17th, while Thitikul bogeyed the 17th, which allowed Wang to regain and maintain the lead. Wang’s consistent and impressive putting throughout the tournament, including a bogey-free 7-under 65 round on Saturday, was key to her success. She became the seventh LPGA rookie winner this year, extending the tour’s unique streak of no multiple winners in its first 23 events. Thitikul, who recently became No. 1 in the rankings, finished second at 19-under, with South Korea’s Sei Young Kim finishing third. The tournament saw challenging weather conditions with multiple rain delays, but Wang’s composure and resilience stood out, marking a significant milestone in her rookie season.
