Hawaii Doctor Charged with Attempted Murder, Alleged Abuse

Arielle Konig, a 36-year-old nuclear engineer, has accused her husband, Dr. Gerhardt Konig, a 46-year-old anesthesiologist, of months of sexual abuse and a brutal attack during a hiking trip in Hawaii on March 24. According to a restraining order filed by Arielle, Gerhardt attempted to push her off a cliff at Pali Lookout after she expressed discomfort about taking a photo near the edge. During the incident, he allegedly struck her multiple times with a rock, held her down, and attempted to inject her with syringes. Arielle claims that Gerhardt's extreme jealousy and controlling behavior escalated after he accused her of infidelity in December 2024, leading to their participation in therapy. Following the attack, Gerhardt was arrested and charged with attempted murder, while Arielle sought legal protection for herself and their two children. He is currently held on a $5 million bond pending further proceedings.
