Chinese FM Wang Yi Meets African, Solomon Islands Envoys in Beijing

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has been actively engaging in diplomatic efforts with Pacific Island nations and African countries, emphasizing deepening strategic partnerships and cooperation. In Xiamen, Wang met with Solomon Islands' Foreign Minister Peter Shanel Agovaka to reinforce the comprehensive strategic partnership and mutual support between China and Solomon Islands, highlighting progress since establishing diplomatic relations over five years ago. Meanwhile, in Beijing, Wang convened with over 50 African diplomatic envoys to celebrate Africa Day, underscoring China’s commitment to strengthening China-Africa relations, which have been elevated to a strategic and all-weather community with a shared future. Wang reiterated China's support for Africa's economic and social development, the promotion of multilateralism, and opposition to power politics, aiming to implement cooperation initiatives like those outlined at the recent Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Additionally, Wang is set to attend a ceremony in Hong Kong marking the establishment of an intergovernmental mediation organization, reflecting China’s broader diplomatic and legal engagement efforts. These activities showcase China's ongoing drive to build strong international partnerships based on mutual respect, development, and shared strategic interests.
